The All Party Parliamentary Group on Mental Health

The All Party Parliamentary Group on Mental Health aims to enable Members of both Houses of Parliament and other interested groups to become better informed about mental health issues.

Members of the public are welcome to access and make use of the information on this website. However, membership of the group and attendance at group meetings is restricted to Parliamentirians and our supporting organisations.

The secretarial support for the APPG is provided by Mind, Rethink, and the Royal College of Psychiatrists. More on the APPGMH.

If you would like further details on the work of the APPGMH, or if you are a Parliamentarian who would like to attend any of our meetings, please contact Michelle Smith on Michelle.Smith@rethink.org

World Mental Health Day – Friday 10th October

To mark world mental health day the APPGMG are delighted to support the launch of 2 new initiatives:

Choice in the Mental Health System – A new report by leading mental health charity SANE, which highlights the fact that although choice is available in some areas of healthcare, there is emerging evidence that choice in mental health continues to be an unmet need. SANE presents evidence to illustrate some of the challenges of implementing choice in mental health and proposes solutions. Download the report.

Choice and Medicines Toolkit: An innovative new online resource for both service users and clinicians which contains detailed information about more than 100 different types of medication. Jointly developed by the National Institute for Mental Health in England (NIMHE) and the United Kingdom Psychiatric Pharmacy Group (UKPPG) this new web site will help service users and clinicians to have informed discussions about the treatment options available. Visit the Choice and Medicines Toolkit.
